What is the Career ID Portal?
It is a web site that provides unique Career ID numbers to individuals. The Career ID number works across the IT industry and is used to help employers, schools, certification programs, government agencies, and others easily validate an individual’s IT skill and knowledge.
Is receiving the Career ID number free? Are there any CompTIA requirements to test or certify individuals in my organization?
Receiving the Career ID number is free and CompTIA sets no obligations for anyone to test or certify. The Career ID is designed to report certification status and is most effective when an individual tests and becomes certified. Your organization may have its own requirements or preferences when using the Career ID portal.
How Does The Career ID Portal Protect Individual Privacy?
The Career ID portal operates under strict privacy regulation. Its use is voluntary and always requires authorization from both the individual supplying his or her information. Organizations that make use of the Career ID number are primarily employers, certification providers, academic, and government organizations. They must explain document and agree by signature that their use of Career ID information is for employment, elective credit, or other authorized uses. Unauthorized use or misuse of Career ID information by any organization is not tolerated by CompTIA. CompTIA investigates and shuts down access to such organizations.

What is the CompTIA Member Number? Where Do I Get It? Is It Required?
It is a unique number, supplied by CompTIA, that helps identify your organization’s name and location with the individuals at your location who will be assigned a Career ID number. The Career ID number required and must be entered along with all other required fields on the Career ID portal web page. What are the legal requirements needed to use the Career ID Portal?
Generally, all individuals must complete and sign a Career ID portal agreement document. All individuals (or parents/guardians of they are a minor) must agree to allow your organization to request a Career ID number on their behalf. In addition, they must agree to allowing your organization to have access to their Career ID number and use their Career ID number to validate their certification status.
To receive certification validation reports using the Career ID numbers assigned to individuals at your location, your organization must complete and sign the CompTIA Batch Verification application document.
